de_leonHi everyone. I hope you’re doing alright. These rifts are scary and I wish Mr. Gladstone wasn’t sick [...] but that’s okay! Everyone wrote really wonderful things in my Nice Shadow Post box and I wanted to share them with you. Sorry if I made any mistakes copying what you wrote. You all have great, legible handwriting, I just make mistakes sometime. No one is perfect!

- I overslept. Got fourteen hours but still feel tired.
- Had a dream about ice-fishing, but can't remember any more. [....] I got bit?
- Had two cups of water this morning.
- My pee was light yellow and lasted eleven seconds.
- Missed breakfast but ate a banana. It has two bruises.
- Might be that time of the month again!

Feb. 13th, 2019 10:10 pmcoalbloodedNASA officially declared the Opportunity Mars rover dead today. Opportunity was launched in 2003 for a planned 90 day mission, but explored Mars for fifteen years. The rover conclusively established that there was once persistent surface liquid water on Mars, along with many other important scientific discoveries. She even celebrated a birthday by taking the first Martian selfie.
In 2018, there was a huge dust storm on Mars that prevented the rover from recharging her batteries. Opportunity sent one last message home, "My battery is low and it's getting dark." NASA tried to rouse Opportunity, sending commands to the rover and listening for any peeps she may have made, hoping the windy season would blow her solar panels clean. The little rover that could never responded, though.
Sleep well, Opportunity. We'll catch up with you sooner or later.
