SQUAD 2 BONDING

HOW THIS WORKS

• Marty has called the first official Squad 2 meeting. They will be meeting by the rusty cars at 8. Time to bond, suckers!


• Like a good Squad Mom, Marty has brought a modest amount of alcohol to share, though the others are welcome to contribute too if they want.


• Marty plans to play Truth or Shot or Slap, but he's open to other activities.

"I had nothing better to do," Lucy shrugs. She brings her glass to her lips.

"Same as hell," Marty agrees, holding out his cup to tap it against hers.

Dustin laughs warmly, but his eyes are fixed on Lucy. "That can't have been all," he says-asks the two of them as they click each other's glasses. It's not an accusation — by drinking, they're admitting it — so much as an opening to elaborate further outside the obligation of the game, should they choose.

He waits, and what follows is a lull in the conversation that's just bursting to be filled with openness or bullshit or even just a beat of silence, depending on your personal preference.

What answer would satisfy you, then? The exact truth is so cliched. Lucy stares Dustin down with a trademark coldness, offering nothing, but there is perhaps a hint of a (quirk of a) smile before she lifts her glass again and turns her attention back to the group.

"New rule," she announces, soft-voiced. "Take a pull for every follow-up question."
