Venus's heart is thumping in her chest so hard she's worried she might faint. But with the drink out of the way, she can at least rest both her arms on Hadlee's shoulders, a slightly more stable arrangement. She looks down at their feet, trying to figure out what way they'd need to turn them to get spinning, but it's really just a distraction while she decides on her answer.

"I'm waiting for her to text me," she says, fully determined on it now that she's told Hadlee out loud. She was too eager with Marina and is convinced this is why she stopped talking to her, and she hopes this small act of aloofness might be enough to hold onto Miranda's attention a little longer.
